Rebirth by Glamour

Rebirth by Glamour is my entry for Lone Rabbit's February 2023 RMX Jam. It is a mash-up of two character themes.

DIO - The charismatic vampire hell-bent on destroying the Joestar bloodline. His theme, Dark Rebirth is an ominous orchestrated piece that captures DIO's beauty, and threatening nature.

Mettaton - The most popular star loved by all the monsters in the underground. His final theme, Death by Glamour sells the listener on the glitz and glamour that Mettaton exudes. This is the backdrop of the final encounter the player has with Mettaton, and is a high energy piece to match MTT's personality.

Rebirth by Glamour is my re-imagining of the two individual pieces, as one cohesive piece. In the research for this Jam, I found that Toby Fox and Temmie were very inspired by DIO when creating Mettaton. See the early concept art below:

Death by Glamour is in G Major, while Dark Rebirth is in E Minor. Which of course are both sides of the same set of notes. I found that the pieces fit together somewhat well, and began playing with mashing them up. 

Dark Rebirth has a tempo nearly 50% slower than Death by Glamour, so it was difficult to find a nice medium for the feel of the track. 

What resulted is a dark and ominous sounding piece that feels like DIO has spread his influence to the CORE underground, having corrupted Mettaton. Now Mettaton is looking to eliminate the Joestars (even though he has no idea who they are.)

The piece is composed in E Minor and predominantly uses various OPUS libraries to provide a full orchestrated sound.
